Leading Energy Company, a major U.S. electric utility serving over five million customers, faced a stalled two-year effort to migrate its distributed workforce to Windows 7 and implement Microsoft SCCM. The project overwhelmed internal teams due to its scale—13,000 desktops across 500 mostly rural sites and 50 manufacturing locations—combined with insufficient planning, siloed communications, and gaps in resources and project management capacity. Pomeroy retooled the program under a $5 million budget, performed a Windows 7 migration readiness assessment, developed a 25-step implementation plan, and managed end-to-end execution including compatibility testing, application packaging, procurement and automated field deployment via SCCM. The vendor recruited and oversaw roughly 180 technical resources and completed migration of 13,000 PCs and laptops to Windows 7 in nine months across 11 states and 500 locations—delivering individually configured devices, tens of thousands of peripherals and applications, on time and on budget while preserving user data and productivity.
