A Pomeroy Case Study
Equipment Rental Company, a North American network of company-owned and franchise rental stores, faced a 12-week deadline after corporate divestiture to stand up its own IT and mobile support for 2,600 devices across 136 locations. With fragmented carrier plans, poor device tracking, lack of utilization visibility, and uncontrolled telecom spending, the company engaged Pomeroy for a Telecom Expense Optimization Assessment and mobile platform migration to regain control and speed the transition.
Pomeroy implemented a new telecom management platform, rationalized carrier plans, integrated Active Directory for device ownership tracking, established online ordering and help-desk support, and delivered standard/custom reporting. The work produced $280,336 in annual savings (24.5%) despite utilization increases (data +74%, messaging +41%, voice +47%), cut U.S. cost per device 57.4% ($49 vs. $115) across 2,218 devices, and met the 90-day migration goal.
