International Olympic Committee launches Emmy-nominated AR app with Polyform Studio

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) partnered with Polyform Studio to reimagine the Youth Olympic Games experience for a young, digital audience. Their challenge was to create an accessible and immersive augmented reality app that would bring the scale and emotion of the games into viewers' living rooms, while incorporating live data and official branding.

Polyform Studio developed an Emmy-nominated AR application that allowed users to place virtual digital twins of Olympic venues into their own space. The solution layered live video feeds, real-time athlete stats, and social commentary into the AR environment. This innovative project, launched for the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games, set a new benchmark for live spatial sports user experience and earned Polyform an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Digital Innovation.
