Connecting over 300,000 employees and 9,700 public health centres across Thailand

The Royal Thai Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), which manages health services for a population of more than 67 million with over 308,000 employees and nearly 9,800 public health centres, faced major communication and logistical challenges across its nationwide network of provincial offices and agencies. Regular in‑person meetings were costly and often impractical, hampering routine coordination and time‑sensitive responses such as emergency and pandemic management.

Beginning in 2012 the MOPH deployed enterprise-grade Polycom video solutions (HDX 7000 and RealPresence Desktop, with RealPresence Mobile planned) across all provincial offices and headquarters, enabling high‑quality remote collaboration. Usage grew rapidly, travel and meeting costs fell (estimated savings of more than 0.5 million THB for a single annual meeting), and the ministry improved training, emergency response and interagency coordination—outcomes that have driven further rollouts into the health system.
