ACT Government builds a future-ready design system for 100+ websites with Pollen

The ACT Government faced the challenge of managing over 100 websites with an outdated design system, which created inconsistent user experiences and inefficiencies in building and maintaining its online services. They engaged the vendor Pollen to create a new, accessible, and unified design system that could be adapted across all government agencies.

Pollen designed and developed a uniquely ACT Government Design System using atomic design methodology, ensuring WCAG 2.1 AA compliance and flexibility for various brands and campaigns. They delivered coded HTML and CSS components documented in Storybook for use across multiple content management systems. As a result, the ACT Government now has a foundational system being used to build its largest websites, with Pollen also providing governance support to ensure long-term internal maintenance and scalability.
