Cisco, a global technology company, needed a way to measure and improve internal email effectiveness — identifying which message length, number of links and send frequency actually drove employee engagement. To do this, Cisco adopted PoliteMail Software’s Outlook plug-in to capture opens, clicks and link-level behavior across its internal communications.
Using PoliteMail Software, Cisco tested shorter, more focused messages, limited calls to action to one or two links, highlighted the primary CTA in a top‑right box, and reduced overall message volume. The changes produced measurable gains: sustained open rates around 70% and significant increases in click-throughs (reported as high as 70%), with clearer CTAs and fewer low‑value emails improving overall engagement.
