RIHousing, Rhode Island’s housing finance agency, needed a faster way to analyze housing conditions, track the impact of its investments, and clearly communicate findings to legislators without spending days on manual research or GIS work. The team turned to PolicyMap and its mapping and data tools to identify housing disrepair risks, cost burdens, and other neighborhood-level indicators across the state.

Using a PolicyMap widget embedded in its website, RIHousing gave residents, lawmakers, and staff access to public maps and data on housing stock, affordability, and demographics. PolicyMap helped RIHousing produce district-level reports in minutes, support legislative conversations with credible local data, and strengthen a HUD grant application that resulted in an $8.4 million award based on PolicyMap maps and data.
