A PolicyMap Case Study
Rhode Island Foundation, the largest philanthropic funder in Rhode Island, needed a data-driven way to assess grant applications, understand community needs, and evaluate opportunities across health, education, economic security, and community development without relying on complex GIS tools or time-consuming research. It turned to PolicyMap for a single source of cross-sector community data to support its decision-making.
Using PolicyMap, Rhode Island Foundation reviewed neighborhood-level data before community meetings and when considering investments such as the federal Opportunity Zone program. This helped the Foundation identify specific local challenges, such as transportation and food access gaps in Woonsocket, so it could ask better questions and target resources more effectively.
