Craft3, a nonprofit community development financial institution (CDFI) focused on environmental resilience, needed a better way to visualize and publicize the impact of its lending across the communities it serves. To address this challenge, Craft3 turned to PolicyMap and its mapping tools to help present its loan portfolio in a clearer, more engaging way.

Using PolicyMap’s custom widget, Craft3 created an interactive Impact Map that showed the organization’s geographical reach and let users click on individual loans for details on financial and environmental outcomes. The map helped Craft3 highlight measurable impact, including a $10,000,000 loan in 2014 that retained or created 304 jobs and assisted 180 low-income families, while also supporting its broader efforts to attract investors and borrowers.
