Indiana University Health faced the challenge of protecting its staff across 17 hospitals, where healthcare workers needed a fast and reliable way to call for help that would provide responders with their precise room-level location. The goal was to implement a staff duress system at a scale of tens of thousands of employees without having to install a new, parallel infrastructure.

Pole Star provided the room-level indoor-location layer using its NAO® Suite, which was integrated with CriticalArc's SafeZone platform and ran on the health system's existing Cisco Wi-Fi access points. The solution enabled staff to raise alerts via a smartphone app or wearable badges, resulting in faster, coordinated emergency responses because help arrives knowing the exact room. The deployment covered 17 hospitals with 20,000 alert badges, leveraging thousands of existing Cisco access points to keep costs down.
