Middleton advances equity and inclusion with Polco and 80% white community benchmarking

The city of Middleton sought to better engage its entire community, including hard-to-reach residents, and to advance its equity and inclusion initiatives. To achieve this, the customer partnered with vendor Polco to utilize its online community engagement platform and scientific benchmarking surveys, The National Community Survey (NCS) and The National Business Survey (NBS).

Using Polco's tools, Middleton successfully engaged a more diverse and greater number of residents, including more people of color, to provide feedback. The scientific survey results provided a national benchmark and were used to help finalize the city's Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The solution from Polco helped support the city's broader equity efforts, which include workforce housing strategies, non-motorized transportation projects, and police department policy reforms.
