City of Elk Grove earns Voice of the People Award and boosts safety with Polco

The City of Elk Grove faced the challenge of improving residents' perception of safety and security amidst its status as one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. To address this, the city partnered with Polco to utilize The National Community Survey (The NCS) to gather resident feedback and identify safety as a top priority for improvement.

Polco's solution centered on providing the data and recognition platform that supported Elk Grove's multifaceted safety initiatives. These programs, including a Citizens Academy and a Mobile Crisis Support Team, focused on prevention and community engagement. As a direct result of these efforts, the city achieved a significant improvement in its NCS safety ratings between 2017 and 2019, which led to Elk Grove winning the 2020 Voice of the People Award for Transformation in Safety, an award presented by Polco.
