Sirona Dental Systems, a 130‑year leader in dental technology, needed a more flexible, unified lifecycle management solution after its mix of RequisitePro, Excel, Word and point tools proved ineffective. The company required end‑to‑end coverage from requirements to testing, stronger document management and traceability, and robust support for medical device compliance (FDA, IEC 62304, ISO standards) while remaining adaptable to existing processes and embedded‑software traceability needs.

Sirona implemented Polarion’s web‑based ALM with a highly customized configuration delivered by Polarion Professional Services; the rollout (data import and reporting) took about 5–6 months and is now used across the Imaging division with expansion planned. The result was a single, configurable platform that simplified administration, made traceability and compliance reporting much easier, reduced license and maintenance costs, enabled custom reporting and version/code traceability, and increased transparency and efficiency across development teams.
