A Poka Case Study
USG, a manufacturer of building materials with 46 manufacturing locations in North America, needed a better way to train workers and share information on the factory floor. With a senior workforce retiring and new equipment and processes being introduced, the company was relying on a largely paper-based system that made it difficult to keep work instructions current and accessible. USG turned to Poka’s connected worker app to modernize training and communication.
Using Poka, USG rolled out digital work instructions, issue management, factory feed collaboration, and checklists, starting with about 150 users and expanding to 295 users across two plants. The platform helped USG speed up training, improve collaboration between operators, technicians, and maintenance, and make updates instantly available on the floor. USG reported higher engagement, faster problem-solving, easier adoption than expected, and measurable usage tracking through logins, views, comments, and checklist completion; Poka also helped shift the culture from paper-based, all-or-nothing updates to faster, iterative improvements.
