A Poka Case Study
Masonite’s St-Éphrem plant faced a safety crisis in 2015 with nine work-related accidents (one serious), prompting a corporate review of health and safety training. Key problems were non‑standardized training, poor cross‑department communication, and inconsistent safety content, so Masonite selected Poka—using its structured video guide development tool and factory feed—to standardize training and improve real‑time communication.
Poka was rolled out in December 2015 and delivered standardized, video‑based training, a real‑time factory feed for announcements, and ongoing operations support. The result: Masonite cut accidents from nine in 2015 to two minor events in 2016, while gaining faster, targeted skills development, reduced downtime, better management–employee cohesion, and more effective daily management thanks to Poka.
