Destia, a Finnish infrastructure and construction service company, faced the challenge of ensuring its daily work routines were efficient and that all stakeholders on the Turku E18 Ring Road project remained up-to-date with the current situation of the construction site. They needed a better way to provide workers with accurate, updated as-built documentation of the challenging terrain to enable confident decision-making.

The vendor Pointscene provided a cloud-based solution where weekly drone-captured data was processed and uploaded, making high-resolution orthophotos and point clouds immediately available to all stakeholders through integrations with Infrakit and 3D-Win survey software. This eliminated the need for external hard drives and gave everyone instant access to the latest site data. As a result of implementing Pointscene, the project was completed six months ahead of schedule and 10% under budget, with the data becoming an irreplaceable tool for daily planning, meetings, and reporting.
