Case Study: London Gatwick Airport improves passenger navigation with Pointr

A Pointr Case Study

Preview of the London Gatwick Airport Case Study

London Gatwick Airport - Customer Case Study

London Gatwick Airport faced the challenge of navigating its complex indoor environment, as traditional GPS systems are unreliable indoors. With 80% of passengers finding indoor navigation critical or very important, the airport sought to simplify the passenger experience and optimize operations as part of its transformation program. They selected vendor Pointr to provide a fully functional indoor location system.

Pointr implemented its Deep Location technology using a network of 1,800 beacons deployed throughout the airport's two terminals. The solution provided highly accurate blue-dot navigation, augmented reality wayfinding, and location-based analytics. For passengers, this resulted in a better experience with dynamic, multi-level maps. For the airport and its partners, the system enabled data-driven operational improvements and the ability to send contextual notifications to app users, all achieved with a rapid deployment and calibration time of just under three months.
