Large cultural district campus - Customer Case Study

The West Kowloon Cultural District, a large 40-hectare campus in Hong Kong, faced significant navigation challenges due to its complex mix of indoor-outdoor spaces, high ceilings, and ongoing construction. They needed a seamless, large-scale wayfinding solution to guide visitors between its many venues. To overcome the limitations of GPS indoors and the difficulty of creating a smooth transition between environments, they partnered with Pointr to implement its Deep Location platform.

Pointr deployed its indoor positioning system, using hundreds of Bluetooth beacons to power an accurate "blue-dot" and seamless indoor-outdoor wayfinding within the district's mobile app and on kiosks. The solution also included interactive digital maps and innovative augmented reality wayfinding to create a more engaging visitor experience. Despite the challenges of remote deployment during the pandemic, Pointr enabled the project to be completed on time, successfully creating the world's first cultural district with seamless location services at this scale.
