StartBox recognized a critical need to help prevent wrong-site surgeries, which occur more than 4,000 times each year in the United States. With no existing market solution able to provide useful wrong-site surgery and near-miss data, StartBox partnered with PointClear Solutions to develop a new web and mobile offering.

PointClear Solutions delivered a ground-up iOS and web solution with strategy, design, development, and solution management support. The app creates a unique surgical profile for each procedure, includes accessible voice recordings, and uses barcode scanning to verify patient details, procedure, site, and laterality. As a result, StartBox became first to market with a solution for reducing and preventing wrong-site surgery events, while also improving data collection to support quality initiatives.
