The state oil and gas commission, a major oil and gas producer, was facing a significant challenge with its critical-path reporting. Its manual process for identifying well relationships using spreadsheets consumed hundreds of hours and was prone to human error, especially under a new, more extensive drilling plan. The organization engaged Point B to reduce the analysis time and ensure accurate reporting for the state commission.

Point B developed and delivered an automated solution by leveraging the client's existing GIS system and internal staff. The project team created a tool that auto-generates required Excel reports for wells within a predefined area. As a result, Point B helped reduce data processing from 14 days to 10 minutes. This provided monthly analysis savings of $1.2 to $3.6 million and additional drilling savings of $1.6 to $3.2 million, while also significantly improving data integrity.
