A Point B Case Study
A large multi-specialty clinic was relocating and sought to capitalize on this move to create more efficient operations. They engaged Point B to redesign their critical materials management process with the goal of optimizing supply availability while reducing costs. This built upon previous Lean work the consulting firm had done to prepare for the clinic's relocation.
Point B designed a new Lean process that limited on-premise inventory, standardized supply locations, and introduced visual triggers for reordering. They piloted the solution in two complex specialties, Pediatrics and OB/GYN. The results were significant: on-premise inventory was reduced to a consistent 3-4 day supply, clinical staff reduced resupply efforts to just seconds per day, and the supply team saved time and money. Point B developed a roadmap to roll out this successful new process across the clinic's other 21 medical specialties.
