MacPacker expands to 15 languages with POEditor

MacPacker, an open-source archive manager for macOS, faced the challenge of localizing its application without a dedicated budget. As a community-driven project, it needed a way to allow users to contribute translations easily without requiring technical knowledge or interaction with the development environment. The vendor, POEditor, provided a solution with its crowdsourcing platform and support for Apple's String Catalog format.

By implementing POEditor, MacPacker established a straightforward localization workflow where contributors could translate online. This solution enabled the project to expand from one language to 15 supported languages with the help of 23 contributors, achieving approximately 74% translation coverage. The vendor's platform made the process effortless for the project owner and significantly increased the application's accessibility to a global audience.
