OhioHealth Increases Collections By More Than $6 Million With Patient Estimates

OhioHealth, a 1,700+ bed health system in Columbus, OH, faced growing patient demand for accurate out‑of‑pocket cost information and wanted to boost point‑of‑service (POS) collections. Previously patient access staff could only provide rough chargemaster averages, so OhioHealth partnered with PMMC and selected PMMC ESTIMATOR PRO to deliver timely, insurance‑aware price estimates.

PMMC implemented ESTIMATOR PRO, integrating the tool with OhioHealth’s eligibility vendor, configuring contracts and policies over a six‑month project and providing onsite training. As a result, POS collections rose from about $12.8 million in FY2011 to more than $19 million in FY2013 (an increase of over $6 million); OhioHealth now issues roughly 470 hotline estimates and more than 9,000 scheduled patient estimates per month, and cites PMMC as a collaborative partner in the success.
