A PMMC Case Study
Maury Regional Health, a 360-bed system in Columbia, TN, faced rising self-pay and high-deductible plans and needed to identify and recover contractual underpayments, monitor payer contract performance, and improve point-of-service collections. To meet these goals they partnered with PMMC and adopted PMMC’s software tools, including its calculation engine, patient estimation system and contract management capabilities, alongside process and registration changes.
PMMC’s solution enabled automated underpayment identification and tracking, accurate pre-service patient estimates and prospective contract modeling; it was fully implemented for estimates within four weeks. As a result, Maury Regional collected over $1.5 million in underpayments, saw about a 1000% increase in point-of-service collections from baseline, a 13% growth in total patient cash collections, nearly a 650% ROI in year one, and monthly time-of-service collections rising to 22–26%; patient satisfaction scores also improved.
