All Children’s Hospital (ACH) in Tampa Bay, Florida was looking to improve its hospital charge capture process for 50 inpatient rounding physicians. The paper-based workflow created duplicate data entry, risked lost charges, and made it difficult to capture diagnosis details specific enough for ICD-10 adoption. ACH turned to pMD and its mobile charge capture solution to replace the cumbersome paper process with a more efficient electronic approach.

pMD implemented a mobile, real-time charge capture system integrated with Cerner and Epic Resolute, automatically updating rounding lists, capturing charges at the point of care, and electronically sending billing data to the hospital’s billing system. The result was immediate adoption by the physicians, faster and more secure charge submission, elimination of manual rekeying, and a much more efficient billing workflow. ACH also achieved an average charge entry lag of just 3.8 hours from date of service, while the medical assistant reduced billing prep from hours to about 5 minutes.
