Charleston Nephrology Associates is a physician-owned nephrology group of nine providers in Charleston, SC, caring for over 2,000 patients annually across four hospitals and eleven dialysis units. Their paper-based hospital and dialysis charge capture process produced illegible, incomplete notes, frequent delays (hospital claims were sent every ninth business day and dialysis charges often not ready until the 10th–15th), and an extra 25 staff hours per month. They selected pMD’s mobile charge capture and clinical tools to replace this manual system.

pMD implemented a mobile charge capture system with shared real-time patient lists, nephrology-specific dialysis functionality, secure messaging, and an interface to Allscripts. As a result, providers submit charges the same day, the billing team now bills hospital charges daily, and dialysis charges are billed within the first four days of the month. pMD helped the practice save about 25 staff hours per month, reduce charge lag from up to nine days to one business day, and cut average days in AR from ~45 to ~15, improving cash flow and staff efficiency.
