Insurance Company Reduces Cost for Big Data

A Fortune 100 insurance company with over 50,000 employees and $100B+ in assets needed to roll out a large Hadoop cluster but balked at the cost and operational burden of traditional networking and pure white‑box DIY approaches. They wanted the commodity economics of white‑box switching without becoming their own systems integrator, and required a solution that would integrate with their existing Layer‑2/Layer‑3 production network.

Pluribus delivered a brite‑box design using E68 and F64 switches as TOR/leafs (10G to servers, 40G uplinks, 100G spines) running Pluribus Netvisor/VCF with BGP and route‑reflector topology; an initial POC used 2×E68 and 1×F64 and the deployment now spans ~100 Pluribus TOR nodes. The customer expects $500k–$1M in CAPEX savings for a 100‑rack deployment, additional OPEX reductions from platform automation, elimination of systems‑integration burden, and retained white‑box economics alongside enterprise ease of management.
