SES Water avoids delays on A22 Godstone Road works with PLMR’s bi-weekly updates

SES Water faced a significant challenge in gaining local and political support for business-critical water improvement works requiring the closure of the A22 Godstone Road in Purley. A previous attempt had been cancelled due to a lack of community backing. To ensure the 2023 project proceeded, SES Water appointed PLMR for stakeholder engagement and communications support.

PLMR implemented a comprehensive pre-emptive communications strategy, engaging political stakeholders, local businesses, and residents well in advance. The team created briefing documents, held ongoing dialogue with local representatives, and personally visited every affected business with an information pack. During the works, PLMR distributed bi-weekly progress newsletters. As a result, the works proceeded as planned with no delays, and council officers noted they were shocked and impressed by the complete lack of complaints due to the extensive communications.
