Case Study: National Office of Animal Health achieves stronger renters’ rights for pets with PLMR

A PLMR - Communications with Impact Case Study

National Office of Animal Health secures renters’ right to request pets with PLMR after 200+ survey responses

The National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) faced a challenge where UK renters were often prohibited from keeping pets due to restrictive tenancy agreements, negatively impacting human and animal wellbeing. To address this, NOAH partnered with communications vendor PLMR to launch the ‘Securing the Right to Rent with Pets’ campaign, utilizing their public affairs, web development, and graphic design services.

PLMR designed a campaign microsite to raise awareness and drive political engagement, built a coalition of support, and conducted surveys that provided crucial data to government policymakers. As a direct result of PLMR's efforts, the subsequent Renters (Reform) Bill included a right for tenants to request a pet, which landlords cannot unreasonably refuse, marking a revolutionary reform to the UK rental sector.
