IDEXX Laboratories, a global leader in animal health diagnostics and related information technology, needed a highly scalable way to monitor a large, distributed network spanning more than 60 locations worldwide. As the company continued to expand, it needed better visibility into network traffic to proactively identify issues and protect productivity. IDEXX turned to Plixer and its Scrutinizer NetFlow analysis platform for help.

Plixer’s Scrutinizer gave IDEXX a central dashboard for monitoring network health and troubleshooting performance problems across its worldwide MPLS and IPsec-connected sites. Using the tool, IDEXX quickly identified and fixed a BGP failover issue that had routed Australia traffic over the backup IPsec link, and also spotted excessive SMB traffic that was overwhelming a 2 Mbps WAN link in Europe. Plixer helped IDEXX resolve issues faster, prevent performance problems before users noticed them, and keep its global network running smoothly.
