A Plex Systems Case Study
Kamco Industries, a Kumi Kasei subsidiary founded in 1987, is a full‑service automotive parts manufacturer with sites in Ohio, Ontario, Alabama and Mexico and more than $140M in annual sales. As a major supplier to customers like Honda, Kamco faced operational pain from spreadsheet‑based processes: poor inventory visibility that caused line stoppages, stacks of paperwork for performance analysis, lengthy month‑ and year‑end closes, slow shift scheduling, and an IT organization spending more time on manual supports than on strategic technology.
Kamco deployed the Plex Manufacturing Cloud (including VisionPlex, cycle counting and tooling modules) to centralize data, automate shop‑floor processes and integrate IoT tools like RFID, tablets, robots and HoloLens. The results: monthly close shortened to two days and year‑end close to two weeks; shift scheduling reduced from hours to minutes; fewer assembly stoppages and lower inventory; IT headcount cut from 12 to 4; and nine consecutive years of on‑time delivery awards for Honda, plus better OEE visibility and reduced overtime.
