Horizon Technology Breaks Through Boundaries with Plex

Horizon Technology, founded in 2001 in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, builds advanced powder‑metal components by reducing porosity to produce stronger, smaller parts for automotive and EV applications. Growing quickly, the company was hampered by three disparate software platforms, an aging AS/400, no dedicated IT staff, and limited budget—leaving gaps in quality control, traceability and the ability to prove manufacturing reliability to larger customers.

Horizon implemented the cloud-based Plex platform with a phased rollout beginning with quality, replacing manual records with integrated ERP/MES functionality and shop‑floor workstations. The system delivers real-time alerts and error‑proofing, enabling immediate response to machine issues, product traceability by serial number in 10–15 minutes, stronger customer confidence during plant walkthroughs, and greater agility to develop new technologies and embrace Industry 4.0.
