A PlayNetwork Case Study
Starbucks, a global restaurant brand built on storytelling, wanted to enhance and modernize its in-store music experience. To develop a first-of-its-kind music offering, Starbucks selected PlayNetwork (alongside Spotify) and implemented PlayNetwork’s CURIO content delivery platform to keep music central to the brand’s atmosphere and customer connection.
PlayNetwork delivered a multi-channel solution: CURIOPlayer X5 in-store playlists curated and licensed by PlayNetwork, a CURIO API powering the Starbucks mobile app for music discovery and saving to Spotify, and a custom CURIO iOS app for partners to view and control what’s playing. The rollout reached more than 7,500 U.S. stores and gives over 12 million My Starbucks Rewards members new ways to experience Starbucks music, extending the in-store experience into customers’ digital lives.
