Maurices, a North American fashion retailer focused on inclusive, ageless style, wanted to connect with customers beyond the store and strengthen its identity as a tastemaker for young women’s fashion and music. To do this they engaged PlayNetwork to develop a branded campaign—“Hometown Sound”—that would marry fashion, music, social media and PR to reach their core audience.
PlayNetwork produced the Hometown Sound contest and a custom web experience to collect 525 submissions and tally tens of thousands of votes, created artist video content and studio recordings, and activated a branded showcase at SXSW featuring partner artists and winner Katrina Stone. The PlayNetwork-driven campaign generated 63,000 online votes, 2.4 million impressions via social and paid channels, and over 200 million press impressions across six months, cementing Maurices’ relevance with social media–savvy, fashion-conscious young women.
