Comic Relief brings laughter and hope to the world—at scale

Comic Relief, the charity behind Red Nose Day, needed to speed development of campaign sites and donor experiences during a migration to Drupal 8. Before working with Platform.sh, Comic Relief’s team relied on a WebOps bottleneck to spin up QA environments (taking days), which slowed feature review, testing and releases across multiple concurrent development branches.

Platform.sh provided automated, GitHub-integrated preview environments and deployment tooling so every feature branch gets its own environment (often up to 20 concurrently), with previews ready in ~10 minutes on first commit and ~5 minutes thereafter. Using Platform.sh’s pipeline enabled multiple daily merges and sub‑hour production deployments, freed 85% of DevOps/QA capacity for other work, eliminated a dedicated WebOps role, lowered hosting costs, and delivered an estimated 40% savings on Comic Relief’s Drupal projects.
