How Payground uses Plastiq’s APIs to take the pain out of medical bill payments

PayGround, a company providing a payment app for healthcare bills, faced the challenge of a fragmented and patient-unfriendly medical payment system. Patients like its founder were burdened by having to use numerous different portals and methods—including ACH, mailed checks, and more—to pay providers, leading to confusion and difficulty reconciling accounts. To solve this, PayGround partnered with vendor Plastiq and utilized its payment APIs.

By integrating Plastiq's APIs, PayGround was able to embed flexible payment capabilities directly into its app. This solution allows patients to pay any healthcare provider using their preferred method, including credit cards, debit cards, ACH, and HSA/FSA accounts, while Plastiq handles sending the payment via the provider's preferred method (check or ACH). The results were a significantly improved patient experience, reducing frustration and saving time during difficult periods. Plastiq's exceptional customer service and technical support were also cited as key factors in the project's success.
