UT System Scales Execution of Strategic Initiatives Across its 14 Institutions

The University of Texas System, a state university system spanning 14 academic and health institutions and 105,000 employees, launched eight transformational "Quantum Leap" strategic initiatives under Chancellor William McRaven. UT System lacked a project-management culture and enterprise tools to track progress, aggregate financials, and communicate status across institutions, so leaders needed an intuitive, reportable solution that non‑PM staff could use to operationalize strategy.

Using Planview Enterprise (deployed quickly with Planview FastTrack), UT System created a central, configurable source of program and project data and began producing executive-ready status reports within weeks. Configured dashboards and a team-of-teams approach gave leaders real‑time visibility into milestones, budgets, risks, and resource capacity, improved cross‑institution collaboration, and enabled the system to connect strategy to project delivery and scale the solution across departments.
