A Planview Case Study
University of Utah Health Care, the Intermountain West’s only academic health system with a $1 billion operating budget and 8,000 employees, faced frequent network outages, limited visibility into projects and resources, and eroding executive confidence in ITS. With more than $75 million in projects underway and no effective governance or prioritization, the organization struggled with too many competing initiatives and poor processes.
Under CIO leadership the PgMO implemented top-down ownership, change management and cross-functional governance and deployed Planview Enterprise to standardize project, portfolio and resource management. The result: projects aligned to strategy, off-cycle requests greatly reduced, a structured PMO culture, improved communication and accountability, leadership visibility into risks—and for the PgMO, 100% of projects on time and under budget, restoring organizational trust.
