Cambia Health Solutions is a nonprofit total health solutions company in the Pacific Northwest with nearly a century of history, offering healthcare IT, insurance, retail healthcare and related services. Facing a bureaucratic, costly healthcare environment and a need to "embed innovation into the company’s bloodstream," senior leaders found their homegrown SharePoint idea process couldn’t scale or create transparent pathways to develop employee ideas.

Cambia implemented Planview Spigit and created an internal Innovation Force using a proprietary i5 process, design-thinking training, and company-wide challenges (like an app-a-thon) to surface, grow and incubate ideas. The program boosted engagement (7% active participation; 84% say Cambia encourages innovation), delivered measurable impact — $4M in process cost savings, a Reform for Me tool that supported $60M in sales and renewals, and help raising Medicare STAR ratings with an estimated $50M benefit — and exceeded board-level innovation targets.
