LV= is the UK’s largest mutual insurer (founded 1843) with more than five million customers, 5,700 employees across 17 offices and over $17 billion in assets. After a leadership and branding shift, IT faced an explosion of work—roughly 600 projects a year—without visibility into project status, effort or resource allocation. Projects were frequently late and over budget, resources were overallocated and pulled into ad-hoc work, and the CIO team had no PPM system to control scope or prioritize investment.

To fix this, LV= stood up a PMO and deployed Planview Enterprise PPM in about 10 weeks (pilot live in six weeks), rolling out time recording, work manager, financial planning, resource management and reporting. The new solution and training gave the CEO and CIO transparent, consolidated data for prioritizing projects by value, improved resource allocation, faster reporting, freed project managers to focus on delivery, and aligned investment decisions with strategic priorities.
