Kathrein Implements Planview Enterprise for Improved Product Development Processes

Kathrein, founded in 1919, is the world’s oldest and largest antenna manufacturer, producing everything from satellite and terrestrial TV antennas to mobile radio and RFID systems. Facing a highly competitive and diverse product portfolio (six product divisions, 500+ employees, ~150 projects/year), the company struggled with inefficient product development processes and poor visibility due to legacy software that lacked project, resource, and time management capabilities. Kathrein therefore reengineered its stage-gate product development process and set out to replace the existing tool.

After a structured vendor selection, Kathrein implemented Planview Enterprise for Product Development for its flexibility, role-based access, reporting, and intuitive UI. The rollout combined workshops, broad employee involvement, targeted training and “train-the-trainer” programs to drive adoption. Within weeks the company gained clear visibility into resource consumption and bottlenecks, achieving improved resource utilization, reduced risk, standardized stage-gate quality, faster time to market and strong user adoption.
