Global Payments, a Fortune 500 payments technology company, faced a massive integration challenge after its $24 billion acquisition of Total System Services (TSYS) in 2019, which doubled its workforce and sharply increased projects, geographies and currencies. The IT PMO needed to quickly align thousands of projects and disparate teams with corporate strategy while navigating the hidden “icebergs” of legacy processes, cultural friction and change resistance.
To address this, Global Payments partnered with Evolve Advisory Services by Planview to design and implement an enterprise-wide organizational change management framework and centralized project governance from intake through execution. The PMO now supports roughly 1,000 project/resource managers and 7,000+ team members, manages 4,200 active projects (with 170 major prioritized projects visible to executives) and brings ~340 new projects into the value stream each month, while institutionalizing OCM to support future growth and acquisitions.
