A Planview Case Study
This federal agency — charged with producing the nation’s core population and economic statistics and supporting decisions that affect hundreds of billions in federal funds — faced a fragmented, siloed IT environment across ~6,000 employees. Budget cuts, rising public demand for fast, mobile and open-data access, and a landscape of more than 1,500 IT products and 1,000 overlapping applications made it difficult to deliver timely, efficient services or scale for modern data needs.
The agency adopted Planview Enterprise One Capability and Technology Management to establish an enterprise architecture discipline, appoint a chief architect, create standards and an architecture review board, and introduce lifecycle and mission-enabling support (MES) frameworks. The result: a common functional framework and applications inventory, fewer duplicative products, shared infrastructure and APIs, streamlined governance, and measurable gains in agility, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
