Carter’s, Inc., the largest branded marketer of young children’s apparel in the U.S. and Canada with a multi-channel global business, needed to revamp IT project and resource management. Its PMO faced five core problems—fragmented project lists and weak governance, unclear project prioritization, improper capital labor tracking, inconsistent activity tracking across workgroups, and an inability to forecast resource capacity—which hindered SOX compliance and constrained growth.
Carter’s implemented Planview Enterprise to standardize project lifecycle governance, enforce time and rate tracking, define project tiers, and introduce monthly resource planning. The initiative produced 100% SOX compliance, clearer prioritization and forecasting, reallocated resources to higher-value work, $2M in capital savings and $2.6M in expense savings, and supported adding 42 headcount (a 50% IT staff increase) to sustain growth.
