Arizona State University Gains Visibility into Valuable Data Improving Project Prioritization

Arizona State University (ASU), a large public research university serving more than 74,000 students and 20,000 faculty and staff, faced fragmented project intake and planning across its University Technology Office (UTO). Without a central point for work requests, consistent prioritization, time tracking, or financial visibility, projects clogged the pipeline, resources were misallocated or over-contracted, and budget planning was difficult.

ASU implemented Planview Enterprise through a phased rollout with pilots, training, and Planview consultant support, eventually onboarding roughly 545 managers and team members and expanding the tool across multiple campus divisions. The platform centralized project and resource data, introduced time tracking and governance, improved prioritization and capacity forecasting, and won executive backing—resulting in a faster, more orderly project pipeline, clearer cost and resource visibility, and data-driven decision making.
