How an Agricultural Science Organization Maximizes Carbon Efficiency and Ensures Sustainability Through Innovation

The Agricultural Science Organization, a division of a multinational biotechnology company, needed a better way to collect, share, and prioritize employee ideas for reducing carbon emissions across its supply chain. To support its Carbon Efficiency innovation challenge, it turned to Planview IdeaPlace to run a simple, company-wide crowdsourcing initiative that would engage employees and help leaders assess which ideas best aligned with sustainability goals.

Using Planview IdeaPlace, the organization enabled collaboration, comments, and pairwise voting to refine and rank submissions, and paired it with Planview Portfolio Management for end-to-end tracking. The challenge generated 40 high-quality ideas from about 700 participants, leading to seven ideas selected for the innovation portfolio and 20 more for the sustainability program, while also creating a reusable framework for future innovation challenges.
