A Planon Case Study
Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC) is a large regional hospital with 715 beds, 7,200 staff and a Facilities Unit of 340 employees managing a $42 million budget. Facing an organizational SAP-first policy, the Facilities Unit needed a dedicated Facility Management Information System to transform from a “doing” to a “coordinating” organization, improve customer-facing services and streamline management of 280,000 sq. ft., CAD drawings and over 18,000 technical assets.
MUMC implemented Planon’s FMIS to centralize service requests, maintenance planning, work orders, contracts and a redesigned self-service portal now reduced to one intuitive search. Planon integrates daily with SAP (automating cost transfers), supports suppliers and mobile field services, and delivers measurable benefits: a 70% drop in customer queries, greater process transparency and auditability, time savings of several days per month, and wider adoption across the organization.
