Ahold Delhaize, a global food retailer operating dozens of brands and serving 50 million customers weekly, relied on Planon software since 2005 to manage facilities, contracts and maintenance across its headquarters, distribution centers and online operations. By 2016 the legacy on‑premises system needed an upgrade to ensure 24/7 maintenance continuity, secure visitor management, and seamless integration with HR, Finance and access systems while supporting high volumes (about 100,000 visitor registrations, 80,000 room bookings and 70,000 maintenance calls annually).

The company performed a functional “as‑is” upgrade to Planon Universe in the Planon cloud with a cross‑functional team, phased testing, penetration tests and two dry runs to ensure a smooth go‑live. The move restored full vendor support, improved performance, reduced total cost of ownership, and unlocked new features and mobile apps for employees and field engineers — enabling continued innovation, faster processing and future scalability.
