A Planon Case Study
The University of Sunderland is an international institution with about 20,000 students across campuses in Sunderland, London and Hong Kong, managing 39 buildings and 1.6 million gross square feet. Its legacy CAFM was slow and holding the Estates team back; with a fixed deadline to decommission the old system, the university needed improved visibility, data quality, reporting and governance to support workplace transformation and smart‑campus ambitions.
Sunderland selected Planon’s out‑of‑the‑box Campus Management (Maintenance, Real Estate, Space & Workplace) and went live with reactive maintenance in seven weeks. The new system reduced task handling from up to 10 minutes to seconds (four clicks), tightened SLAs, improved transparency and H&S reporting, and established a unified data platform that enables faster work completion, better decision‑making and future rollouts of proactive maintenance, mobile field services and self‑service tools.
