Case Study: Gemeente Arnhem achieves centralized property control and improved reporting with Planon

A Planon Case Study

Preview of the Gemeente Arnhem Case Study

The Municipality of Arnhem Property information leads to professional support of an organization and municipal authorities

The Municipality of Arnhem’s central property organization, created in 2009, manages a large and diverse municipal estate—including more than 170 schools, 128 sports facilities, 120 social properties and some 900 other buildings—but initially had no single, up-to-date overview of ownership, contracts, costs or condition. Facing legal, financial and reporting risks under new municipal accounting rules, Arnhem prioritized selecting a single property information system and chose Planon for its municipal experience and integrated support of property, maintenance and facility processes.

Planon was implemented in three phases—basic registration, long‑term maintenance and client/process management, then system integrations—and delivered a single source of truth: 1,330 contracts and all property data consolidated, old subsystems and Excel files eliminated, and faster, more accurate reporting to municipal authorities. The result is clearer budgets and forecasts, lower management costs, improved process quality and the flexibility to extend into facility services and sustainability monitoring.
